El programa proporciona instrumentos musicales a las escuelas y ofrece experiencias educativas para fomentar la creatividad, la disciplina y la expresión personal a través de la música.

La edición número 42 de este programa fue organizada en asociación con el condado de Miami-Dade y la Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones del Gran Miami (GMCVB), y contó con el apoyo adicional de Dollar Tree, Family Dollar y la Fundación Cornelia T. Bailey. Además, la iniciativa Beyond the Instrument de Sony Music Group aportó una subvención para promover el acceso a la educación tecnológica musical.

La Escuela Secundaria Miami Senior High School: Un Modelo de Excelencia Musical

La elección de Miami Senior High School como sede del evento no fue casualidad. Fundada en 1903, es la escuela secundaria más antigua del condado de Miami-Dade y un referente de excelencia académica y musical en la región. Su banda escolar es reconocida por su destacada trayectoria en la música, habiendo realizado presentaciones en países como México, Venezuela, Cuba, Canadá y Europa, llevando la cultura y la música de América Latina a audiencias internacionales.

Santiago Hernández, director de la banda de Miami Senior High School, expresó su agradecimiento por la generosa donación de instrumentos. “Estos instrumentos abren nuevas oportunidades para nuestros estudiantes”, dijo Hernández. “Ahora, pueden desarrollar sus talentos y crear música que tendrá un impacto positivo en sus vidas y en la comunidad”.

Un Evento Cultural y Educativo: Música, Inclusión y Solidaridad

El evento, además de la interpretación de “La gota fría” por parte de los estudiantes, incluyó una sesión de preguntas y respuestas con Carlos Vives, moderada por la periodista Lili Estefan, copresentadora de El Gordo y La Flaca en Univision. La periodista destacó la importancia de la música en la educación y el impacto que este tipo de programas tiene en las futuras generaciones de artistas latinos.

Durante el evento, Mireya Blavia de Cisneros destacó cómo la música puede ser una herramienta poderosa para fomentar la inclusión social. “La música no tiene barreras”, expresó Blavia de Cisneros. “A través de iniciativas como Latin GRAMMY En Las Escuelas, buscamos crear un espacio inclusivo donde todos los jóvenes tengan la oportunidad de descubrir su talento y construir un futuro mejor”.

Un Impacto Duradero en la Comunidad

El apoyo de patrocinadores como Dollar Tree y Family Dollar, junto con la colaboración de la Fundación Cornelia T. Bailey y la iniciativa Beyond the Instrument de Sony Music Group, fue fundamental para llevar a cabo esta experiencia educativa. La donación de instrumentos, que incluye una variedad de instrumentos de viento, cuerdas y percusión, permite a los estudiantes de Miami Senior High School contar con las herramientas necesarias para desarrollar sus habilidades musicales.

La Fundación Cultural Latin GRAMMY® continuará su trabajo en conjunto con instituciones educativas y artistas para seguir promoviendo la educación musical en comunidades de bajos recursos.
